Job Description: Automation Controls Engineer

Join our dynamic team at our Raleigh, NC, facility as a Controls Engineer in the Process & Manufacturing Controls team. Design, program, and maintain automated control systems for industrial clients. You'll be responsible for various industrial process control systems, programming new and existing hardware and software, troubleshooting, and repairing client control systems. Programming PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, Servos, and VFDs while following UL 508A control panel construction and design requirements. You'll also provide estimates, controls hardware costs, and labor hours for potential projects, while maintaining compliance with NFPA 70E.

Hard Skills:

• PLC Programming
• Troubleshooting PLCs
• To achieve compliance with UL 508A, control panel manufacturers must undergo certification by UL, the independent safety organization. UL's certification shows that the manufacturer has met the required standards and can maintain a high level of quality in their products

Soft Skills:

• Stamina to endure standing or sitting for prolonged periods without tiring
• Being inclined to travel to clients' nearby offices

The position is a contract job that renders flexibility for transitioning to a full-time status after a 12-month period.

Work Environment:

• An average workweek for employees is 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for five consecutive days from Monday to Friday.
• A standard workweek consists of 40 hours, and any hours worked over that time limit are categorized as overtime.
• Our primary agenda is catering to our largest client while still growing in Raleigh. Four substantial projects are anticipated this year that extend beyond our primary client. In the long term, we need someone with an open-minded and willing to travel to local Raleigh client sites. This person will be responsible for overseeing upgrades to existing systems, installing new conveyor systems, packaging lines, and general plant support. While work will be a mix of hybrid and onsite, time spent on North Carolina job sites could reach 100%. Travel requirements should not exceed 20%. Finally, the candidate must be capable of standing or sitting for extended periods.
